What the Internet will look like in the next 10 years: the concept of metaverse

The internet will continue to evolve and will not look like it is today. There will be a social infrastructure that will go beyond the Internet and expand society beyond what it is today. The metaverse, it seems, will be this creation, combining the Internet with the limitless possibilities of augmented and virtual reality technologies.

What is the metaverse and how will it replace the internet?

Steven Spielberg’s 2018 Sci-Fi Adventure Loan Player One gives us a good picture of what the metaverse might look like. The main character of this film spends most of his time in a virtual world made up of many simulations. The Metaverse, on the other hand, will be more than just a place to play games. It will serve as a sort of tracking of the mobile Internet.

Life was tough before the Internet. For example, you had to go to the library, phone a travel agent, or browse flyers at a rest area to get travel information for a future vacation or a place you were visiting. It was inefficient and it was difficult to find all that a city had to offer.

Then came the internet, which gave us websites that searched for reviews and prices for everything in a city, from restaurants to accommodation. It has increased the amount of information available on travel while removing any single source of authority on the subject.

You’ll put on your AR or VR headset and be transported to the city you want to explore in the Metaverse. You’ll be able to take virtual city tours, browse attractions, and see what’s on the menu at top restaurants, all while setting up a concrete schedule for your visit someday. It is a combination of information from the travel agent, the internet and personal judgment.

This is just one way for the metaverse to bypass the internet.

Many experiences, services and data have been digitized on the Internet. However, they’re all scattered around and in their own isolated compartments, only loosely linked by links, Google search, and the occasional social media post. The metaverse, meanwhile, is a shared virtual space where all the leisure activities that the Internet has brought us can be better linked and exist simultaneously.

Here’s how the internet will evolve with the advent of the metaverse. In each of the following examples there is a glimpse into the existence of a specific service, action or experience –

1. Before the Internet

2. With Internet

3. After Internet in the metaverse

Productivity – Collaborating on projects at work consisted of meeting in a boardroom or sending memos and people reported to them individually – Google Docs and Google Sheets allowed us to have multiple people collaborate on the same document simultaneously, while Zoom gave us video chat and screen sharing technology to share what we were working on from anywhere. – Experiences in the metaverse will allow us to collaborate on the same project but also to be digitally alongside our colleagues. It will tie together the two separate experiences of FaceTime and Google Docs, allowing for unbridled collaboration and the feeling of being in the same room.

Commerce – A clothing purchase before the internet was an event that happened every season and you would walk through malls or stores until you were satisfied with what you needed. – The internet has given us e-commerce shops, endless malls from our couch, and unlimited hours of operation – any time of the day we can shop. Social media is constantly presenting us with new styles. – The Metaverse will take the best of unlimited ecommerce shopping, social media discoverability, and endless “action” photos and reviews and put them all in one place. Augmented Reality helps you understand what something would look like on you, NFTs would make commerce fully digital for new categories such as fashion and VR avatars will have business worlds revolving around them

Art – Art and music collections were once one or more record shelves or a large CD rack. – Music streaming services provided us with almost all of the existing music for around US $ 10 / month (RM41). – The metaverse will take us back to the privacy of having your favorite music shelf with NFTs, but with the limitless nature that the digital world has to offer. Moreover, you can own a royalty by being one of the first patrons of the artists thanks to decentralized tokens issued against them.

Community – If you’re lucky you have friends you can count on to always listen, maybe someone who’s been through the same experiences as you and who could offer you some helpful advice. – Internet helped us to find our community, tribes of friends who lived the same thing as us. Reddit communities, Facebook groups, blogs, discussion boards, etc. gave us all the opportunity to unwittingly express our resentments and receive real help without feeling exposed. – The metaverse will take on the same magnitude that the Internet has brought us in terms of communication and community, except for physical presence and real-time interaction. It will always remain anonymous if you wish, decentralized and immersive.

Why do we need the metaverse?

If the Metaverse is a literal representation of real-world offerings, you are no doubt wondering why we even need it. The metaverse, on the other hand, is built on the mirror of the physical world.

Overall, the Internet has done a great job in bringing information, services, and experiences to the masses. The metaverse is what will bring all of these crucial aspects of human existence together into a more social structure.

The metaverse also abdicates many limits of the physical world to us. There is no limit to the amount of space we can use and develop. We don’t have to worry about the time lag when traveling to see new places. In the Metaverse, you are free to explore any achievable lifestyle you wish. Not to mention that only new trade and service economies will open up. Although the metaverse appears to be a reflection; a clone of the physical world. It’s actually a more powerful version. – Hindustan Times, New Delhi / Tribune News Service
