Volunteering in the classes

North Coast Opportunities’ Foster Grandparent program needs retired seniors to volunteer in the classroom. Volunteers will receive benefits such as reimbursement for mileage, liability insurance and a small hourly allowance. The Retired Seniors Volunteer Program provides volunteer assistance services to other nonprofit organizations and offers benefits to volunteers aged 55 and over. PETALUMA WETLANDS ALLIANCE

Teach, help with wetlands

The Petaluma Wetland Alliance needs volunteers to teach third graders about wetland habitats, birds and their importance, lead bird walks, help with habitat restoration, conduct research on wetland animals and more. Mandatory volunteer training begins Jan. 13 at 9 a.m. and will run for seven consecutive Thursdays. To volunteer, visit petalumawetlands.org/devenir-un-volontaire. WEST COUNTY COMMUNITY SERVICES

Become a senior peer advisor

Volunteers aged 55 and over are needed to help their peers deal with the stress and challenges of aging. Volunteers will complete 35 hours of training with licensed clinical staff. Helping to fight homelessness

Homes 4 the Homeless needs volunteers interested in outreach, marketing, fundraising, grant writing, website design, social media, graphic design, video production, blogging, writing, research and various clerical and administrative tasks. The organization specializes in designing shelters and managing projects to help people displaced by economic homelessness or natural disasters with a range of support and services.
