Mei Lee, Lazada Senior Vice President of Marketing, Joins Boston Consulting Group

The Boston Consulting Group has named Lazada’s former senior vice president of marketing, Mei Lee, as a partner and associate director. In his new role, Lee is responsible for covering digital commerce and marketing topics for the Group’s teams and clients. INTERACTIVE-MARKETING asked for a comment.

Lee worked at Lazada for almost four years, where she reported directly to Alibaba’s director of AI and advertising. According to her LinkedIn, during her time at Lazada, she led the marketing strategy of the e-commerce platform’s brand partners, integrated campaigns, performance media and communications to innovate in data, media, l customer experience, online traffic and e-commerce market share. Lee also served as the Regional Marketing Manager for the Advertising and Monetization Business Unit, with responsibility for driving solution adoption, marketing operations and revenue management in the APAC region.

Prior to joining Lazada, Lee was the founder of DOTS GROUP, a marketing training and consulting company that offers digital consulting, marketing masterclasses and leadership coaching. Some of the agency’s clients included Singtel, Criteo, MediaCorp, National University of Singapore, and Singapore Advertising Institute, among others.

Lee has extensive experience in digital marketing. She was Senior Vice President of Digital, CRM and eCommerce at COMO Group from 2015 to 2017. There, she was responsible for the Retail, Hospitality, F&B and Lifestyle divisions of the company, with a direct team of approximately 35 employees at Singapore. This includes Club 21, COMO Hotels and Resorts, COMO Shambhala, COMO Lifestyle and the COMO foundation. In her role, she managed the overall direct-to-consumer e-commerce strategy, merchandising, operations, platform, logistics, marketing and CRM to achieve retail e-commerce revenue goals. Lee has also provided strategic direction, leadership advice and oversight in the areas of digital and mobile marketing, social media, e-commerce, digital outreach and partnerships, media buying, advertising. online and business intelligence for the brands in the Group’s portfolio.

Lee was also previously VP of Marketing at Conde Nast while in the United States. While in the United States, Lee also held senior and executive positions at companies such as J.Crew, Omnicom, The Walt Disney Company, Viking River Cruise, and United Online.

Lee’s departure from Lazada comes about a month after Richard Rubnan Que stepped down from his role as Senior Vice President, Brand Management at Lazada to join Facebook as Head of Platform Marketing, Asia Pacific. In her new role, Que reports to Sunita GR, responsible for platform brands (Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Messenger) and program marketing. Lazada also recently appointed Marcus Chew as his group’s marketing director. Chew is a marketing industry veteran and served as Marketing Director at NTUC Income for over six years.

In addition, Lazada recently partnered with superapp grab to offer same-day delivery to its buyers in Singapore. This allows Lazada merchants to use GrabExpress to deliver their offers to consumers during the day. The partnership increases revenue opportunities for GrabExpress delivery partners. The same day delivery option via GrabExpress is currently available to over 50 Lazada merchants.
