Globe Rewards and Virtualahan help marginalized groups find jobs – Manila Bulletin

Globe Rewards offers its more than 85 million subscribers the opportunity to improve their lives through their donation platform.

In partnership with Virtualahan, Globe clients can help marginalized groups access capacity building courses and search for available jobs, start their own businesses even at home.

Virtualahan is a pioneering and globally awarded virtual school that helps people with disabilities develop their skills and mindset to become competitive employees and entrepreneurs using the power of technology.

As unemployment increased due to the global health crisis, Virtualahan expanded its reach to train displaced workers, single parents and out-of-school youth. The latest Labor Force Survey (LFS) released by the Statistical Authority of the Philippines (PSA) showed that in July 3.1 million Filipinos were unemployed, up from 2.3 million in 2019.

“Globe and Virtualahan share the same passion for inclusive growth. Through our combined efforts in the use of technology, we believe we can drive positive change and create opportunities for all, ”said Yoly Crisanto, Globe Chief Sustainability Officer and SVP for Corporate Communications.

Virtualahan’s advanced digital skills training covers data and automation, content marketing and communication, e-commerce management, social media marketing, graphics, web design, and basic web development. Earlier this year, Globe provided connectivity support to 100 Virtualahan researchers as part of its partnership with the Department of Information and Communications Technology on the DigitalJobsPH program.

Virtualahan beneficiaries not only receive professional training, but also learn to become independent, to become aware of themselves and to develop their self-confidence. They also benefit from employment support on the alignment of skills and learning, as well as on professional support, observation and matching.

“Globe Rewards creates a great opportunity for every Filipino to help build more inclusive Philippines. At Virtualahan, we continue to work hard to remove barriers to employment for people with disabilities and other excluded communities and every contribution counts, ”said Ryan Gersava, Founder and President of Virtualahan.
