The facility offers various forms of on-site therapy for young children with autism.
LELAND, NC (WWAY) — In Leland on Tuesday, the Behavioral Counseling Center for Autism (BCA) held its grand opening ceremony.
The property offers on-site occupational therapy services in conjunction with Creative Hands Occupational Therapy and Speech Therapy with Port City Speech.
BCA provides behavioral intervention to preschool and school-aged children with Autism Spectrum Disorders in a nurturing, sensory environment.
The goal is to prepare young children with autism for school, socialization and a prosperous future.
The center focuses on a variety of skills including social development, language, motor skills and reducing aggression and tantrums.
The facility had multiple rooms, including private workspaces, sensory rooms, and hands-on play and learning areas.
Tina Gill, owner of BCA, says children can not only benefit from these skills now, but also learn lifelong habits that will help them overcome life’s challenges.
The center specializes in live sessions, rather than virtual dates.
“Our services are not through Zoom, they are not telehealth, they are live and in person. It’s what’s research-based to really make a big difference in someone’s life.
Gill adds that it’s very important if you’re concerned about your child reaching developmental milestones to talk to your pediatrician early, because detection and diagnosis are key to making meaningful changes for the rest of that child’s life.
